A hand grenade exploded at a house in Myawaddy, Karen State, Myanmar, at around on Monday (September 20) and killed one person.
An unknown young man from Mon State, around 30 years old was killed. The blast also seriously injured at least two others who have been hospitalized.
“The blast was very loud. One person was killed and two others were injured in the apartment. Then soldiers and police arrived.” said a resident.
It is believed the grenade exploded by accident.
The house is located in Aung Myay Shwe Bon (2) Street, Ward 4, Myawaddy.
Tenants in the home where the hand grenade exploded included U Saw Naing Win, and three women. They were all taken to the district Police Chief’s office, according to a source familiar with the incident.
Another hand grenade explosion took place in the morning of September 14th at a house in Lay Cage Kaw Township, southeast of Myawaddy. Two men were killed and a woman and a man were seriously injured in that incident as reported by another news agency.
