Thanbyuzayat Police made a seizure of kratom leaves that were packed inside a cement bag. A lone man was carrying the bag along the Khon Myint Thayar road in Karoppi village in the evening of December 28, 2020.
“After receiving a tip, our troops waited (along the roadside) with Karoppi Police. We made the arrest after finding 5 kilos of kratom leaves. This case is being prosecuted under the law,” said the Deputy Chief of Police Kyaw Nine at the Thanbyuzayat Town Police Station.
The individual arrested is named Kyaw Kay, approximately 30 years old, and lives in Khon Myint Thayar village. He has been charged under Section 16 (G) of the Criminal Procedure Code MY(P) 71/2020.
A Karoppi villager, Ko Chan Dook commented, “It is good to arrest those involved in the drug trade and it is better to make more arrests. I don’t want our children to become victims of drugs.”
