Hluttaw representatives object Chief Minister’s day off request

-

Mon State Hluttaw [Parliament] representatives objected to the day-off request by Chief Minister at on the 3rd day of 3rd Regular Session of Hluttaw conference on Wednesday.

At Hluttaw conference, on October 5, two Hluttaw representatives expressed opposition to the day-off request by the chief minister, who asked for a day-leave to attend a World Teacher Day event. However, the chief minister did not attend the event, although he requested to do so. Hence, the Hluttaw representative objected the day-off request by the chief minister.

“This makes his dignity look bad because what he requested for is completely different [from what he’s doing on that day], and this says that he does not respect passing-law power,” said Mon State Hluttaw’s Speaker [House Speaker] Daw Tin Ei. “He must change this. He must give a reasonable and true reason.”

On the 3rd day of Hluttaw, the issue of the Chief Minister’s day-off request for World Teacher Day but failure to attend was recorded at the Hluttaw conference.

Hluttaw Speaker Daw Tin Ei also said that although there are yet no rules to charge or punish the Chief Minister for his absence at the Hluttaw conference, it’s necessary for the chief minister to respect the 3 pillars and his responsibility to attend the Hluttaw for the people who elected from the chief minister’s constituency.

“He is the most responsible person for the government sector of Mon State, but because he is still in Mon State, the public rang to us,” said U Htun Min Aung, representative of Paung Township Constituency No. 1. “He is fully responsible for his attendance to Hluttaw. But what he submitted request for is opposite of what he’s doing on that day. So, on behalf of the public, I opposed that.”

U Htun Min Aung went on to say that it is the Chief Minister’s responsibility to solve for some issues addressed at Hluttaw conference for the respective issues of over 2 million people in Mon State. However, due to the chief minister’s absence, it caused disappointments to the Hluttaw representatives.

The 3rd regular session of Hluttaw conference started on October 3 and takes place for 7 days, finishing on finishes on 9 October.
