The Nationalities Brotherhood Federation (NBF), a group of ethnic political parties issued a list of five demands at it 28th regular meeting, held on May 16 and 17 in Yangon.
The list included a call for political dialogue at the national and state level, for the government and military to honor the National Ceasefire Agreement (NCA), consultation with residents about environmentally destructive projects, support for ethnic livelihoods and support for internally displaced persons (IDPs) as they return home.
NBF was formed after the 2010 election, the first under the current constitution. At the time it was composed of five ethnic political parties, but has since grown to 24 parties from around the country.
