One civilian was killed and three members of the same family were injured after a mortar shell fired by Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 591 exploded in a plantation in Kyaung Ywar Village, Ye Township, Mon State, according to local sources.
The incident occurred at around 8:00 a.m. on February 22, when troops from LIB 591, based in Kyaung Ywar Village, left their base for patrol and were ambushed by the Ye Blue Group. A firefight broke out between the two sides, during which junta forces reportedly fired mortar shells from their base.

One shell landed and exploded in a plantation near the entrance of the village, where family members were picking betel leaves. Three people were struck by shrapnel and one died at the scene.
A local resident said the deceased was a 45-year-old father. The mother and a younger son sustained injuries to their arms, while a 16-year-old daughter suffered serious injuries.
The injured teenager was initially taken to Ye General Hospital and later transferred to Mawlamyine General Hospital for further treatment, sources said.
The family lives in Ohntawyat, Ward 4, Kyaung Ywar Village, and relies on daily wage labor for their livelihood.
Despite the clash and mortar fire, no road closures were reported along the Kyaung Ywar–Ye road as of February 23, and residents did not flee the area, according to a local woman.
During the same clash, three junta soldiers, including a sergeant major identified as Second Lieutenant Soe Win, were reportedly killed. The Ye Blue Group said its members withdrew without casualties.
Earlier, on February 3, joint revolutionary forces including the Ye Guerrilla Force exchanged heavy weapons fire with LIB 591, resulting in damage to several homes in Kyaung Ywar Village.
According to a report by a southern Myanmar humanitarian network, more than 13,000 households from five village tracts in Ye Township have been displaced in early 2026 due to ongoing military operations and shelling.
