Fighting Continues in Northern Ye; Civilians Urged to Move with Caution

-

Fighting continues in the northern part of Ye Township, Mon State, and resistance forces have urged civilians to move and live cautiously due to ongoing military activity.

Clashes between the military council troops and joint resistance forces have been ongoing since October 10, after junta columns advanced into areas under the control of the revolutionary joint forces in northern Ye Township.

According to the Ramanaya Mon Army (RMA), the junta troops continued their offensive through October 17, shelling residential areas with heavy artillery.

“Since the junta battalions are recklessly firing heavy artillery shells into villages in northern Ye, we kindly urge local civilians to remain alert and exercise extreme caution in their movements,” the RMA stated on October 16.

More than 400 junta soldiers have reportedly split into columns and are advancing from the northern part of Ye Township toward the southern border of Thanbyuzayat Township along Union Highway No. 8, where many villages are under the control of the revolutionary joint forces.

Locals expressed concern that further clashes could erupt as junta troops remain stationed in several areas.

“The Burmese soldiers are everywhere along the road and inside the rubber plantations. They’re also deployed near the villages, setting up hidden posts,” a local resident told the media.

Ground sources from the revolutionary side reported that during the recent clashes in northern Ye Township, the junta suffered heavy casualties, with at least 12 soldiers, including one major, killed, and many others wounded.

The junta column is currently being attacked and suppressed by the Mon State Revolutionary Force (MSRF), Ye People’s Defense Force (YPDF), Ramanaya Mon Army (RMA), KNLA Battalion 27, Company 1, Dawna Strategic Column 33 Anti-Drone Unit, and the Tapin Shwe Htee Force.
