The Junta Commission announced on September 9, 2025, that four political parties which failed to meet membership and office requirements under the Political Party Registration Law have been officially dissolved.

According to the Political Party Registration Law, political parties were required to meet the prescribed membership and office requirements and submit the relevant documents to the Union Election Commission by September 7.
As of the deadline, four political parties, the National Democratic Force Party (NDF), the Democratic Party of National Politics (DNP), the Women Party (Mon), and the Union Farmer-Labour Force Party, failed to meet the required membership and office quotas and were consequently deregistered.
All four dissolved parties had intended to contest Union-level elections, which now leaves only five out of nine Union-level political parties eligible to compete nationwide.
The remaining Union-level parties, excluding the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), are those that did not win any seats in the 2020 general election.
Currently, political parties seeking to contest at the state and regional levels are still facing challenges in fielding candidates, as well as financial and security difficulties.
