Daily Clashes Continue in Ye Phyu Township

-

Clashes between the military commission forces and the Mon-Karen-Tanintharyi Joint Resistance Force continue daily in Ye Phyu Township, Tanintharyi Region.

Since the second week of August, fighting has occurred around villages, including Kaw Hlaing, Mayan Chaung, and Mile (60). According to a local from Sayar Mon village who is sheltering from the conflict, it continues to this day.

“The fighting happens daily, sometimes two or three times a day. Even when there’s no ground battle, drones drop bombs on villages, and the (Mawrawadi) navy also fires heavy weapons. That’s what’s happening on this side,” the resident said.

As of August 23, the military commission and the resistance forces are reportedly reinforcing their positions around the conflict zones.

“The battles are likely to intensify. In Mayan Chaung and Mile (60), entire villages have been evacuated. People are hiding in other villages, and no civilians remain—only Burmese soldiers,” the resident added.

Current estimates suggest that thousands of civilians, including the elderly and children, have been displaced across the area due to ongoing conflict.

Clashes are ongoing between the military commission units based in Kalein Aung town, Ye Phyu Township, and the Mon-Karen-Tanintharyi Joint Resistance Force.
