Woman Arrested in Ye for Allegedly Spreading Pro-NUG Messages on Social Media

-

A 35-year-old woman from Ye Town has been arrested by the military junta for allegedly posting content in support of the National Unity Government (NUG) and the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) on social media, according to local sources.

The woman, identified as Ma Yamin (also known as Linn Linn), was reportedly arrested on the afternoon of July 18 from her home in Yangyi Aung Ward, Ye Town, by a large group of junta soldiers.

“She posted videos supporting the NUG and CRPH on TikTok, which is why they arrested her,” a resident said.

The military accuses her of using her TikTok account under the name “yaminLove” to share pro-NUG and CRPH content as part of a propaganda campaign.

She is currently being held at the Ye Township Police Station and has been charged under Section 505(a) of the Penal Code, which relates to acts that allegedly undermine state stability.

The military junta has declared the NUG, CRPH, and their affiliated organizations as terrorist groups, and frequently arrests individuals who post or share content related to them online.

Those detained are often charged under harsh laws such as Section 505 of the Penal Code and the Counter-Terrorism Law, with many facing long prison sentences.
