The Military junta has granted permission to a businessman to develop a modern playground on a vacant plot of land inside Thanlwin Park, located beside the Ocean Super Centre in Mawlamyine, Mon State, according to a source close to the Mon State Municipal Affairs Committee Office.
The Mon State Municipal Affairs Committee had called for tenders to develop a modern playground on the vacant land between the Ocean Super Centre and the General Aung San statue within Thanlwin Park.
The permission is granted after a thorough review of the proposal submitted by the sole applicant.
“There used to be fairs and various events on that vacant land. Also, the Development Affairs Committee had received proposals to build small playgrounds for children there. The businessman who applied to build a modern playground has been granted permission,” the source added.
However, details about the businessman who received the permission and specific information about the modern playground to construct have not been disclosed yet.
Previously, the vacant plot of about 2 acres inside Thanlwin Park has been used for events such as Mon State Day and Karen National Day celebrations.
