Amid the nationwide discovery of 52 new confirmed COVID-19 cases within one week, Mon State has recorded 24 infections, marking the highest transmission rate in the region.

According to a June 17th statement released by the Military junta’s Ministry of Health, between June 8th and June 15th, a total of 2,285 laboratory samples were examined. Among these, 24 cases were found in Mon State, 17 in Yangon Region, and 7 in Magway Region, totalling 52 confirmed COVID-19 patients.
Within Mon State, the confirmed cases for the week include 23 from Bilin Township and 1 from Kyaikto Township.
The positivity rate has risen to 2.28% this week, nearly doubling compared to the first week of June.
The statement also noted that among the detected cases, there are no patients requiring intensive care, nor any deaths reported.
Currently, COVID-19 patients in Mon State are isolated and receiving medical treatment at designated township public hospitals. The Military junta’s health department and affiliated personnel confirmed that all patients remain in stable condition.
Additionally, the statement highlighted plans to administer booster COVID-19 vaccinations to elderly individuals, those with chronic illnesses, and pregnant women.
Although the Ministry of Health has not declared the situation as reaching a level of serious concern yet, it continues to urge the public to adhere strictly to personal protective measures and to get vaccinated.
The Military junta’s Mon State health department has not issued any separate or specific announcements regarding COVID-19 infections in the state.
