According to data from the Mon State Education Department under the military junta, more than 350,000 students have enrolled in schools across Mon State for the 2025–2026 academic year.
During the school enrollment week for the 2025–2026 academic year, basic education schools, private schools, and monastic education institutions across Mon State opened for registration, recording a total of 352,322 student enrollments.

According to the enrollment records provided by the state education department, this figure represents an increase of over 11,000 students compared to the previous academic year.
In the 2024–2025 academic year, 340,868 students were enrolled in schools throughout Mon State.
However, due to ongoing armed conflict, all basic education schools in areas such as Bilin, Kyaikto, Thaton, Kyaikmaraw, and Ye townships within Thaton District have been unable to open.
As a result of the conflict, many students from these affected areas have relocated to urban centres to continue their education, while others, particularly those from financially disadvantaged families, have been unable to attend school altogether.
According to information provided by the Mon State Education Director, there are more than 1,500 basic education schools across Mon State.
