Man Shot in Bilin Township

-

A man was shot and injured in Bilin Township, Mon State, according to local sources.

The victim, identified as U Maung Zan, 63, from Hnin Pale Village in Bilin Township, was shot on the evening of April 5 while riding his motorcycle alone from Shwe Hlay Village toward his hometown. He was ambushed by an armed assailant waiting by the roadside.

“U Maung Zan sustained a gunshot wound to his right arm and also suffered additional injuries when his motorcycle overturned. Fortunately, his condition is not life-threatening,” said a local resident.

He is currently receiving medical treatment at Bilin Township General Hospital.

The identity of the gunman and the motive behind the attack remain unknown, the local source added.

This shooting is the latest in a series of recent armed incidents across Mon State. On April 1, a local resistance leader was shot dead in Kyaung Ywar Village, Ye Township. On April 2, a young man from Mokkhamu Village in Kyaikto Township was killed, followed by the fatal shooting of a fish farm owner near Swabannuu Village on April 4.
