The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and the Palaung State Liberation Front (PSLF) held a memorial ceremony to honor their soldiers who lost their lives during the 1027 Offensive against Myanmar’s Military Junta. In addition to the ceremony, a donation was made in memory of these fallen fighters, symbolizing the lasting respect and gratitude held by the community.
The event took place in TNLA-controlled territory on October 27, marking one year since the 1027 Offensive began. According to the PSLF/TNLA, the soldiers sacrificed their lives to resist the Junta’s violent repression of the Ta’ang ethnic group and to pursue a true federal democracy for Myanmar.
The PSLF/TNLA stated that the fallen will be remembered not only for their bravery in battle but also for their enduring commitment to the freedom of their people.
During the offensive, the TNLA advanced into areas under the Junta’s control, seizing towns including Namhkam, Kutkai, Namtu, Mantong, Namhsan, Monglon, and Mong Ngaw in the initial phase.
In the second phase, they captured additional areas, including Kyaukme, Hsipaw, Nawnghkio, Mogok, and Mongmit, leaving only Taung Hkam base under Junta control in the area. This progress, according to the TNLA, demonstrates the determination of their forces and allied units to dismantle the Military Junta’s hold on ethnic territories and to further their goal of a united, federal Myanmar.
