`SAC will held 2023 Elections for its Political Exit

-

The election is a political exit for Myanmar military group, currently under the name of State Administrative Council (SAC), and so they will hold the election, ‌according to a political analyst.

According to U Than Soe Naing, a political analyst, the election to be held by the military council is an election that will be held unfairly and with various lies and frauds.

“The elections is SAC’s political outlet. They will make it mandatory, but it will not be fair. It will not be done properly. I believe that he will force the election with all kinds of lies,” he said.

Elections will be held in August 2023 using the proportional representation (PR) system, according to the SAC leader, Sr. Gen. Min Aung Hlaing.

The upcoming election will be a political outcome for the peace of the whole people, according to the Mon Unity Party (MUP) spokesperson Nai Than Shwe.

Nai Than Shwe “As for the elections, after the end of the emergency period (2 years after coup) accordingly to constitution, the election must be held within 6 months. According to the 2008 constitution, we have to do this election. But it is the federal democracy that we expect. This election is important for us to start again. Especially all of them. The election is also a political outcome for peace not only for SAC but for the entire public.”

According to U Thar Tun Hla, Chairman of Rakhine National Party (ANP), there is no environment where the people can vote freely and safely in the military council elections.

“There are parts that must be worked on to ensure the safety and freedom of voting for voters. After that, I want to say that the people will also need to be interested in this election. In the current situation, we have heard that people’s lives and property are being destroyed day by day. There is a situation where people’s lives are being threatened and we hear about deaths and injuries every day. That’s why I see that in the current situation, the people are still living in a situation full of anxiety. That’s why, if we talk about the current situation regarding the election, I want to say that there is still no political scene where people can freely and safely vote for their wishes” he said.

The 2023 elections are expected by the military council to be their political exit, so the 2020 elections elected National Unity Government (NUG) will reject the SAC elections, according to its Acting President Duwa Lashi La declared on October 11, 2022.
