New Mon State Party holds 50th Anniversary Conference of its National Health Committee

-

The Mon National Health Committee (MNHC) held its 50th anniversary conference from December 12 to the 14, 2022. The Mon National Health Committee (MNHC) was established in 1972.

Currently, there is one Panan Pon public hospital, 17 medium-level hospitals, 18 dispensaries and 132 health workers operating under the authority of the Mon National Health Committee.

The conference is being held in the Wezin camp, which is within the New Mon State Party controlled areas.

According to Nai Thura Htay, in charge of the Mon National Health Committee, “there are two main objectives of the conference. As it is our 50th anniversary, we have to tell you about the history of our health committee. Next, we have to formulate a policy on how our health committee will move forward. We will get recommendations from the doctors we have invited.”

He added that despite the anniversary being an important achievement, the MNHC still faces the problems of staff instability and insufficient equipment.

In addition, Nai Thura Htay added that efforts are being made to open a new hospital for residents in the areas under the control of the New Mon State Party.

“Within these 50 years, we were able to open a large hospital. We are trying to open a middle-class hospital like the large hospital in Dawei District with operating rooms and medical rooms,” he said.

In addition to locals in the area controlled by the New Mon State Party, people from faraway areas rely on the health department of the New Mon State Party.
