On July 26, around 10:00 p.m two counterfeiters in possession of 10,000 kyat notes were arrested in Paung Township, Mon State.

Authorities entered the compound and searched the home of Maung Shwe (aka) Tana Soo, aged 30, who resides in Myo Thit, Kada Ward, Paw Town.
During the search of his compound, 74 counterfeit notes in the 10,000 Kyats denominations were found wrapped in a black bag. An additional 9 counterfeit notes were also found in the adjacent home of Ma Hla Hla Yi (aka) Tankasu. The 23 year old is the sister of Maung Shwe.
A source close to the investigation confirmed that in total “83 counterfeit bank notes were found and both brother and sister were arrested. The authorities are still investigating.”
Maung Shwe (aka) Tana Suu and Ma Hla Hla Yi (aka) Tankasu are being prosecuted under the law of the Central Bank of Myanmar, by the Poung Township Police.
On June 19th, four counterfeiters were also arrested in Auk Kyin Ward and Thudhamawadi Myothit, (A) Ward, Thaton Township.
