A short bridge (aka compact bailey) connecting Sittaung village and Khawachaung village in Kyaikto Township, Mon State was destroyed by a landmine on March 21.

The bridge is important for the villagers, and area residents are calling for it to be rebuilt as soon as possible.
A local villager noted, “we had to wait a long time for that bridge, there is no other way to cross the span, It needs to be fixed as soon as possible.”
It is not known who blew up the bridge. The State Administrative Council Council (SAC) issued a statement on March 22 saying it would identify and arrest the bombers, followed by taking legal action.
The bridge was about 324 feet long, At least 60 feet of the span has been damaged at an estimated repair cost of 110 lakhs, according to the SAC statement.
Authorities are working to repair the damaged bridge as soon as possible.
Other infrastructure attacks included a mine that exploded, on February 11, at the U Kyar Yoe Railway Bailey between Moppalin Station and Mayangchaung Station on the Yangon-Mawlamyine Railway, Kyaikto Township.
