10 Chinese Nationals Arrested for Entering Mon State without proper documentation

Ten Chinese nationals were recently arrested on the Mottama side of the ThanLwin Bridge (Mawlamyine) in Mon State.

On the afternoon of February 20, security forces stopped three vehicles,   a green PRADO vehicle driven by Ye Win,  a gray PRADO vehicle driven by Ye Win from Meikhtila Township, Mandalay Region, and a gray PRADO vehicle driven by Thet Naing Tun.

Ten non-Burmese-speaking Chinese nationals were found in two of the vehicles.

Driver’s Ye Win and Thet Naing Tun, have been charged with carrying 10 undocumented Chinese nationals.

In addition, the 10 Chinese nationals have been charged under the Immigration Act and are being detained at the Mottama area police station.

There have been other incidents of undocumented entry into Burma. On February 10, nine Bengalis entered Mon State through Magway Township (from Kyauktaw Township, Rakhine State, to Magway Township) without proper documentation and were arrested at the Mayangchaung checkpoint in Kyaikto Township.
