Mon State, Mawlamyine Township , Daw Nwe Nwe Aung, a State Hluttaw Representative from Mawlamyine Township Constituency No.2, and Chair of the National League for Democracy (NLD) party in Mawlamyine Township, appeared for the first time in Mawlamyine Township Court.
She is facing charges under Section 52 (a) of the Anti-Terrorism Law for financing and cooperating with terrorist organizations. Two police sergeants testified at the hearing.
Daw Nwe Nwe Aung was arrested by security forces at her home in Mawlamyine Market Quarter, on November 27, 2021. She is also a lawyer and has been a Member of Parliament as an outcome of the 2015 and 2020 general elections.
