Former Mon State Prime Minister Dr. Aye Zan, who is currently serving a two-year sentence in Kyaikmaraw Prison , was in court on January 10 facing an additional nine counts of corruption, according to sources close to the case. In addition, he has been charged with three counts of allegedly improper electoral influence.
However, the judge dismissed two of the nine corruption cases; the remaining seven cases will be decided at a later date.
Dr Aye Zan has pleaded not guilty.
