Nai Aung Min, the Vice-Chair of the New Mon State Party (NMSP) was appointed as the interim leader of the Peace Process Steering Team (PPST) on July 7.

The Peace Process Steering Team (PPST) is made up of 10 ethnic armed groups that signed the National Ceasefire Agreement. This group is referred to as Ethnic Armed Organization Signatories to the NCA or NCA-S EAOs.
The appointment follows the resignation of General Yawd Serk, Chair of the ethnic Shan armed group, known as the Restoration Council of Shan States (RCSS).
Gen. Yawd Serk submitted his resignation to PPST members in June, 2021.
The PPST statement confirmed that it accepted the resignation letter from Gen. Yawd Serk, who served as its interim leader for over 2 years.
Nai Aung Min, will serve as the next interim leader until the end of the 4th Summit of NCA-S EAO’s 2nd Section.
“A temporary committee of three PPST members has been established to develop a roadmap for the PPST,” said Nai Aung Min.
