Puppa Hongsar’s Foundation for Education will offer a free education program on August 25 in Thanbyuzayat township, Mon state, aimed at Grade 12 graduates and other young people interested in learning during their free time, the foundation announced.
According to the program, it includes IT basics (PC knowledge, Microsoft Office, Graphic Design), Mon literature (writing, reading, speaking), four skills of basic English and basic computer subjects. Plus, the class may be held at the Mon Dhamma Hall or Gate School in Thanbyuzayat town.

“This program is usually open after the release of Grade 12 exam results. This program is not only for the youth who have passed Grade 12, but also for those who failed the exam and who have lost their opportunity to attend. However, they must have completed at least Grade 8. All necessary equipment, such as computers and mice, may be provided, so students don’t need to bring anything. On the other hand, this year, they will need to buy English and the Mon language textbooks. Aside from that, there are no costs and everything else is free,” said the foundation’s general Secretary, Nai Aung Chan.
Application forms may be available starting from 9:00 a.m. on August 15 at Ramanna Nikaya Soiroi Mingalar Paroiyattoi Monastery (Gate School) on Aung San Road, Kyun Khaing quarter, Thanbyuzayat.
Enrollment will be limited to 25 or 28 students, and the program will run for 2 months.
Although no special accommodation has yet been arranged for students coming from distant areas this year, the foundation is still constructing dormitories and classrooms for future use.
“We are currently using the public Mon Dhamma Hall, which isn’t ideal. We’re not restricting students from rural areas, but at the moment, we have no housing to provide them. We are still building the dormitories and classrooms, so if they have relatives or accommodation nearby, they can stay and attend. Once the facilities are complete, it will be much more convenient,” Nai Aung Chan added.
The foundation noted that local youth participation in such courses has declined in recent years due to the increasing availability of language classes such as Japanese, Korean, and English and other learning centres, which are often viewed as essential for those planning to work or study abroad.
So far, the Puppa Hongsar’s Foundation for Education has offered these free educational programs up to batch 12, as well as four summer Mon language programs.
The Puppa Hongsar’s foundation, established in 2021, aims to support Paroiyattoi education, higher education, Mon national education, and to assist those affected by natural disasters.
