Five Killed, Including a Junta Major, and Weapons Seized in Palaw Clash

Tanintharyi Region, Palaw Township, A clash near the 5 Mile Village in Palaw Township resulted in the deaths of five individuals, including a major from the military junta. The People’s Defense Force (PDF) of Palaw’s Myeik District Battalion 1 reported the seizure of numerous weapons and ammunition.

On July 10, around 12 PM, a military column from Infantry Battalion 285, under the command of the military junta, advanced with approximately 50 soldiers. They were met with coordinated resistance from the People’s Defense Force (PDF) of Palaw, Myeik District Battalion 1, Karen National Defense Organization (KNDO) Battalion 7, Company 5, and the Palaw Regional Defense Force (PRDF).

During the skirmish, five junta soldiers, including a major, were killed, and two were captured alive, according to the PDF of Palaw’s Myeik District Battalion 1. Additionally, the PDF reported the capture of various weapons and military supplies, including one MA-7 60mm grenade launcher, one MA-1 rifle, two MA-2 submachine guns, three MA-3 rifles, one MA-5 pistol, and accompanying ammunition.

The PRDF suffered one casualty, and one member of Myeik District Battalion 1 sustained injuries, which are not life-threatening, the PDF reported.
