TNLA Seizes 24 Military Junta Camps in Two Days

-

The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA) announced that it has captured 24 military junta camps in two days within its Brigade 2 territory in northern Shan State as of June 27. The operation resulted in the seizure of various weapons and the capture of 17 junta soldiers.

The TNLA reported that intense clashes occurred in Naungcho, Kyaukme, Moe Meik, Mogok, and Thibaw townships as part of the second phase of Operation 1027.

Notable captured camps in Kyaukme Township include Nar Ai Khone, Sakhan Thar, Ngainchaung Hill, Outpost 352, Inginkaine, Golf Course Hill, Township Administration Office, and Police Camp. Only battalions 501 and 502 remain under junta control.

A local resident from Kyaukme said, “They allowed us to go to the market in the morning. Gunfire, both from heavy and light weapons, could be heard on the outskirts. No troops were visible in town. The market opened until around 9 a.m. before closing again. We’re scared that bombs might drop, especially with the rain.”

On June 26, four civilians were killed, and 15 others were injured in Kyaukme due to artillery shelling and airstrikes by the junta.

In Naungcho Township, the TNLA seized battalion 115, police station, Kankaw camp, Khe Mon camp, Kyaukkyan camp, hospital, tollgate, factory, railway station, Shwe Nyaung Pin camp, and Umati camp. The TNLA continues to attack the remaining battalion 114.

In Mogok Township, the TNLA captured Daw Nan Kyi Taung camp, Byuha Hill camp, Shwe Thaya, Pansape, and Phyu Yaung Kone camps. People’s Defense Forces also joined the TNLA in these operations.

During the clashes, the TNLA captured various weapons including 51 firearms, an RPG-7, a 60mm mortar, a machine gun, two vehicles, a drone jammer, communication equipment, and other military supplies.

The fighting in northern Shan State has led to thousands of displaced civilians, with some trapped due to road blockades by both sides, according to local sources.
