According to local residents, on August 23, a woman was injured after stepping on a landmine in Mayankone Village, Bilin Township, Mon State.

At around 8:00 a.m. on August 23rd, 50-year-old Daw War War Nu from Mayangone Village was enroute to her farm when she stepped on a landmine.

Daw War War Nu suffered multiple injuries to her head, arm, and legs. She was taken to the Htaton District Public Hospital by the social rescue team for treatment.

The military junta and the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), along with the People’s Defense Force (PDF), are active in Bilin Township, including Mayankone Village.

Frequent shootings occur between the military junta and KNLA joint forces near the village.

On the night of July 5th, a man was seriously injured by a landmine explosion on the Natgyi-Binban road near Natgyi-Shansu Village in Bilin Township.

There have been frequent occurrences of landmines in Mon State, since the onset of the coup, particularly in Kyaikhto, Bilin, Htaton, and Ye, leading to civilian casualties.
