Mehm Aue – An eyewitness reported that members of the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) broke electoral laws in Moulmein Township.
According to U Ko Ko Zaw, the information officer for the National League for Democracy (NLD), USDP members also entered polling stations and enticed constituents to vote for their party’s candidates.
“Even though there is a law banning all campaign activities within 500 yards of polling stations, the USDP members convinced voters to support the party by pointing fingers and making speeches,” said U Ko Ko Zaw.
One NLD campaigner from Moulmein further explained that ballot sheets had a glossy surface.
“Some ballot slips in Moulmein constituency had wax over the candidate boxes, for the purpose of ensuring unclear marks that would invalidate the ballots,” he continued.
