During a land-clearing operation conducted by the Tatmadaw’s Military Training Academy No. (4) based in Wai-Sa-Li, a number of gambling related items were seized, including one gun, reported Major Aung Than Naing, with the Thanphyuzayat based military unit.

“Five gamblers were arrested and one gun, two cars, eight motorcycles and a board (used for playing cards) were seized. [In addition an undisclosed amount of] cash was handed over to the local police station [for them to take] action in accordance with the law,“ said Major Aung Than Naing.
The arrests took place on April 26th around 3:30 p.m.
Major Aung Than Naing, explained “the arrest was terrifying because gamblers tried to escape at the time of the arrest, and one of them was found to have a gun.”
According to local people, the gambling center had been operating for a number of months, and one armed man is believed to be linked to a insurgent group However, Mon News Agency has not yet been able to confirm this.
Police officials with the Thanphyuzayat Township have not yet provided a statement of any legal actions that may be taken.
On April 24th, Police force and Administers also arrested ten individuals involved in gambling on rooster fights in Kalargone village, in Ladpantaw village tract in Paung Township. The authorities impounded 22 motorcycles, 1 car, and 5 fighting roosters. According to local people, individuals were charged for violation of the gambling laws.
