A military junta airstrike damaged 42 buildings, including school facilities and civilian homes, in an area controlled by Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade 1 in Bilin Township, Mon State, according to information released by the KNU Thaton District.
At around 11 p.m. on September 19, a military junta jet fighter dropped four 500-pound bombs on Kyathaungseik Village, in KNU Brigade 1-controlled territory.

The airstrike damaged three school buildings, one staff housing building and two homes in the western part of the village. In the eastern part, two school buildings and 36 civilian homes were also damaged, according to the KNU Thaton District.
“The school buildings and civilian homes were damaged. No one was injured,” a local resident said.
At around 11:44 p.m., military junta forces stationed in Kataingti also fired four 120mm artillery shells toward the western part of Kyathaungseik Village, the KNU Thaton District said.
The artillery fire damaged civilian workplaces and plantations in the area.
The KNU said the military junta has failed to comply with ASEAN’s Five-Point Consensus and continues to carry out attacks against civilians across the country using aircraft, drones and artillery. The KNU also accused the military of arresting and killing civilians and committing acts it described as war crimes.
