A man from Paung Township, Mon State, has been arrested and charged for allegedly throwing stones at the Yangon-Mawlamyine No. 83 DEMU express train near Bantbwaykone Village, according to security sources.
At around 10 a.m. on September 22, the Yangon-Mawlamyine No. 83 DEMU train, which had departed from Yangon Central Railway Station, was struck by stones near Bantbwaykone Village after passing Kywe Chan Railway Station.

The attack damaged one window each on carriages No. 2 and No. 4.
The train was stopped after the incident, and railway police arrested a man who was tending goats in a nearby field on suspicion of involvement.
The man was identified as 45-year-old Kyaw Lin Htun, a resident of Bantbwaykone Village. Police also arrested a man named Maung Naing, who was fishing with him at the time, according to security sources.
Maung Naing was later released after questioning, while Kyaw Lin Htun remained in custody, according to a source close to the security forces.
“Maung Naing was questioned and then released,” the source said.
Kyaw Lin Htun has been charged at Paung Myoma Police Station under Section 84 of the Railway Transport Business Law.
If convicted under Section 84 over the alleged stone-throwing incident, Kyaw Lin Htun could face between five and 20 years in prison and may also be fined.
