More than 50,000 supporters who had been providing financial contributions to People’s Defense Force (PDF) units have stopped their support over the past five years, according to the People’s Revolution Supply Family (PRF).
The number of people who have stopped serving as supporters has increased for various reasons, with a sharp decline recorded in recent months, according to PRF.
A PRF information officer said supporters did not stop contributing all at once. Instead, the number gradually declined from December 2021, when PRF was established, through August 2026.

“Supporters are people who provide monthly donations to revolutionary forces. Some gradually stopped in 2023 and 2024. The figure of more than 50,000 represents the total number of supporters who have stopped over the five-year period. But the decline became particularly sharp during the past two months, bringing the number to more than 50,000,” the officer told IMNA.
Around 20,000 supporters remain committed to providing regular assistance, according to PRF. The organization said they continue to provide sustained support for the revolutionary movement.
A revolutionary supporter living abroad said declining trust and interest in the revolution, as well as a lack of transparency in financial reporting to the public, may be among the reasons for the decline in the number of supporters.
“Trust and interest in the revolution may have declined. The revolution has also been unable to gain momentum, while people are expected to provide monthly support. People may ask why they should continue doing so. There could also be other difficulties besides these,” the person said.
PRF is an organization that provides monthly financial support from donors inside and outside Myanmar to PDF battalions under the National Unity Government (NUG).
The funds are used for battalion supplies and general expenses, as well as the purchase and production of military equipment, training and sharing resources with allied forces, according to PRF.
PRF has also urged former supporters to resume their contributions with renewed commitment toward the goals of the revolution and called on new supporters to join the organization.
“There are currently around 20,000 on average. These are core supporters who continue to fulfill their monthly support responsibilities without interruption. We also want those who stopped serving as supporters for various reasons to rejoin PRF and resume their responsibilities. We warmly invite new supporters to join as well,” the PRF information officer said.
PRF said supporters are an essential part of keeping the revolutionary movement operating and warned that a decline in support could affect the ability of frontline forces to continue their operations.
