A 50-year-old man from Ka Law Sot Village in Mudon Township, Mon State, who is accused of organizing gambling operations, has been arrested and taken for questioning by the New Mon State Party (Anti-Military Dictatorship) (NMSP-AD), according to sources close to his family.
Local residents said NMSP-AD contacted the man, identified as Naing Myint Naing, by phone on March 28, requesting a meeting for questioning. He was arrested when he arrived at the agreed location.

“He was not arrested at his home. They called him and said they wanted to meet and question him. After that, he was arrested. We heard from his sisters that he is now being held at an NMSP-AD interrogation office,” a local man from Ka Law Sot Village said.
In the days following his arrest, family members learned that he was being detained at the NMSP-AD Mawlamyine District interrogation office. A local woman said the ward administrator and family members are now preparing to address the case.
“His sister is trying to find out more and plans to go there. We still don’t know whether he will be sentenced or just warned. Since his arrest, his sister has not been able to meet him,” she said.
According to local sources, Naing Myint Naing had long operated gambling activities in the railway ward of Ka Law Sot Village, allegedly in cooperation with local police and township authorities.
He was also reportedly involved in providing loans using valuable items obtained through theft and robbery as collateral, which has led to frequent social problems in the community.
IMNA is continuing to contact relevant officials to learn how NMSP-AD will proceed with legal action against Naing Myint Naing.
During the military coup period, residents say individuals linked to the military junta in Mudon Township have been operating gambling and drug-related businesses in an almost legalized manner. Locals are calling on revolutionary forces to take action against such activities.
