At least 10 civilians, including children, were killed after military junta aircraft carried out airstrikes for two consecutive days in Palaw Township (Ler Muh Lar) in Myeik–Dawei District, according to the Karen National Union (KNU).
At around 12 p.m. on March 10, junta forces dropped four 250-pound bombs from a K-8W jet fighter on Taku Village.
According to the KNU’s Myeik–Dawei District office, the airstrike killed four civilians, including a child, and injured 12 others.
A day earlier, at around 12:30 p.m. on March 9, junta forces also carried out an airstrike on Ta Phi Lay Kho Village despite no fighting taking place in the area.
The KNU said the attack killed six civilians, including two 11-year-old boys, a six-year-old girl and three men in their 40s.
Three 13-year-old boys were also injured in the bombing, according to the statement.
Ta Phi Lay Kho Village and Taku Village are located in an area administered by the KNU in Myeik–Dawei District, where most residents are ethnic Karen.
The KNU said the military junta has continued carrying out airstrikes in areas under its administration. During the first week of March alone, at least 40 civilians were killed and many others were injured in junta airstrikes.
