Three clashes occurred in a single day between a military junta column and joint resistance forces in Aungtharyar old village in northern Ye Township, according to local residents.
On March 9, a junta column of around 200 troops clashed with joint resistance forces for about 20 minutes at around 1 p.m. in Aungtharyar old village.
Fighting broke out again at around 4 p.m. and lasted for about 15 minutes. Another exchange of fire occurred at around 6 p.m., lasting about 10 minutes, a local resident told IMNA.

“In one day, three clashes took place in Aungtharyar old village. Mortar shells were also fired. We heard that three resistance force members were hit, but we do not know whether they were killed or injured,” the resident said.
During the clashes, junta troops from Artillery Battalion 317, based in Mawt Ka Nin, fired at least seven mortar shells toward the area.
As of March 9, the junta column had not withdrawn and remained stationed near the village, raising concerns among residents that fighting could break out again, according to a local woman.
“The situation remains unstable as of today. People are worried that clashes could occur again. Residents are also afraid of mortar shelling, and since junta troops are still in the area, many do not dare travel,” she said.
On March 5, the Mon–Tanintharyi Allied Drone Force and other joint resistance groups carried out a drone attack, dropping six bombs on a junta column that had stopped near Kaninkamawt Village in northern Ye Township.
Local residents said junta forces have also tightened security along the Ye–Thanbyuzayat road since the last week of February, increasing inspections and patrols in villages and nearby areas in northern Ye Township.
Following the election period, junta forces have intensified military operations in northern Ye Township and the Ye–Thanbyuzayat area in an attempt to control Union Highway No. 8, leading to frequent clashes with allied resistance forces.
Resistance groups have urged residents traveling between northern Ye Township and the Ye–Thanbyuzayat area to remain cautious, warning that clashes could occur at any time while military columns are operating in the area.
