The Ramonnya Mon Army (RMA) said it carried out attacks on five military bases in Mudon and Ye townships, Mon State, over a two-day period that included election day, resulting in four deaths and four injuries among junta forces.
In a statement released on January 12, the RMA, an armed wing under the New Mon State Party (Anti-Military Dictatorship) (NMSP-AD), said the attacks were conducted during the second phase of the general election organized by the military junta.

According to the statement, at around 8 a.m. on January 11, RMA forces fired three 107mm rockets at Military Operations Command Headquarters-19 in Ye town, where election activities were taking place. Two additional rockets were reportedly launched at Artillery Battalion-316 near Kalawt village in Ye Township. The group said casualty figures from those attacks are still being assessed.
The RMA also reported that at approximately 4 a.m. on January 12, its fighters attacked a military checkpoint at the entrance of Ahsin village in Ye Township, killing three soldiers and seriously injuring one.
Later that morning, at around 8 a.m., RMA forces said they carried out a drone attack using two explosives on Light Infantry Battalion-209 in Ka Mar Wet town, Mudon Township, killing one military officer.
In addition, the RMA stated that on January 10, ahead of the election, it dropped a drone explosive on military personnel inspecting polling stations in Ka Mar Wet town, injuring three soldiers.
The NMSP-AD is an ethnic armed organization that has rejected the military junta’s phased election process and continues to oppose it through armed resistance.
