A spokesperson for the Spring Revolution Alliance (SRA) told IMNA that the alliance is now able to envision large-scale strategic military operations, as it has successfully built a significant combined force.
Explaining the formation of the SRA, the spokesperson said that member forces have been resisting the military junta across various regions of Myanmar and have achieved some success. However, when operating individually, their actions were often limited by shortages in manpower, weapons, and technology.
Min Han Htet, spokesperson of the SRA, said that all member groups share a common goal of achieving military victory. In the initial phase, the alliance will focus on practical, ground-level operations while strengthening cooperation by addressing each group’s strengths and weaknesses.

“Before forming an alliance, we couldn’t dream big or design large strategic military plans. We could only do what was possible within our limitations. Now that alliances have been formed, we can dream bigger, think through, discuss, and implement more ambitious strategic operations. By complementing one another’s strengths and weaknesses, we’ve been able to build a much larger force together,” he said.
Negotiations to form a strong Spring Revolution Alliance began in May 2025. In November, 19 revolutionary forces from across the country formally united, an announcement that was made public on social media on December 15th.
He added that unity and coordination among revolutionary forces is a key demand of the public, and the formation of the alliance represents the realization of that public mandate.
Ko Min Han Htet emphasized that the current alliance is not static but dynamic, and that achieving the desired victory will not be possible with only 19 groups. He said discussions will continue with other Spring Revolution forces to form a broader and more powerful alliance.
“This will not stop with just these 19 groups. We will continue working to build a much larger and more inclusive alliance. There are many groups actively fighting and sacrificing in the revolution with strong principles. Any group that shares common objectives will be respectfully engaged for cooperation. We are also preparing to overcome challenges that may arise from alliances forming, fragmenting, or becoming ineffective by focusing on real, practical cooperation,” he said.
Most alliance members are conducting joint military operations with Ethnic Resistance Organizations (EROs) and have secured a certain level of territorial control. The combined strength of the alliance is said to be in the tens of thousands.
The Spring Revolution Alliance (SRA) includes the Burma Army (BA), Burma Liberation Democratic Front (BLDF), 96 Soldiers PDF, Burma People’s Liberation Army (BPLA), Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF), Chin Brotherhood (CB), Danu People’s Liberation Front (DPLF), Force for Federal Democracy (FFD), G-Z Generation Army, Kaly Region Revolutionary Force (KRF), Magway People’s Defense Force (MAGWAY PDF), and Mon State Revolutionary Force (MSRF), along with seven other revolutionary groups.
Various Spring Revolution organizations have welcomed the formation of the alliance and expressed their support through congratulatory statements released on social media.
