The Mon State Federal Council (MSFC) and the Mon State Consultative Council (MSCC), two revolutionary alliances representing Mon State, issued a joint statement on the morning of September 18 declaring that they will oppose the junta’s planned illegal election.
The agreement was reached during an online meeting held on September 16 between the two organizations.
Members of both sides discussed the current military and political situation and agreed to cooperate with the MSCC in opposing the junta’s election—before, during, and after the polls—said Nai Bone Myat, MSFC’s Head of External Relations.

“We already recognize that this sham election has no political legitimacy. The junta is trying to use it to cover up its human rights violations and war crimes committed during this period while seeking a political exit strategy. That’s why we must stand together to oppose it,” Nai Hpone Myat stated.
They added that revolutionary groups in Mon State will also focus on building unity in anti-election efforts, joint action, and lobbying the international community to reject the junta’s planned election as illegitimate.
MSFC and MSCC told IMNA they would work to prevent the people from being misled into believing they had chosen representatives, only to later be oppressed by those claiming to govern with their consent.
“When the election ends, they’ll claim the government you voted for is now ruling you, so you must accept whatever comes. That’s the danger. We will make people aware of this, and we’ll also work with others who reject the election,” said U Tet Toe, an MSCC official.
The September 16 online meeting was attended by MSFC Chair Nai Kao Rot and Executive Committee Chair Nai Mon Sine, along with MSCC Chair Dr. Khine Sawng and several officials.
MSFC had already formed an anti-election committee in late 2024, carrying out public mobilization, awareness campaigns, and sending open letters to political parties contesting in Mon State.
With this new agreement, MSFC announced it will intensify anti-election activities in close cooperation with MSCC.
