The Mon Liberation Front (MLF) and the Ramanya Mon Army (NMSP-AD/RMA), two Mon revolutionary forces fighting against the military junta, announced on September 18 that they have officially merged.
In their statement, the groups said the merger aims to strengthen the fight against military dictatorship and to establish a Mon State with full self-determination.
Under the agreement, committee members and troops of the Mon Liberation Front will take on responsibilities in both the political and military operations of the Ramanya Mon Army.
The statement also affirmed that the Ramanya Mon Army will continue striving toward the Mon people’s long-standing goal of forming a unified Mon army.
Earlier, on May 24, the New Mon State Party (Anti-Dictatorship) [NMSP-AD] and the Mon Liberation Army (MLA) announced their merger, leading to the creation of the Ramanya Mon Army.
