A man accused of working as an informant for the Junta Commission was shot and killed in front of Shwe In Hsa Market in Mudon township, Mon State, at around 7 p.m. on September 1, according to local residents.
The Mudon People Defence Force claimed responsibility for the attack, saying its members carried out the shooting along the Mawlamyine–Thanbyuzayat road and the target died at the scene.
The victim was identified as Maung Myo, a school guard from Mudon Basic Education High School No. (1), who was alleged to have been providing information to the junta, a local resident told IMNA.

“We also saw the incident. People were crowding in front of the market, but I didn’t go closer. They were saying he was a guard at Mudon High School No. (1) and that he worked as an informant for the Junta Commission,” a local woman said.
The Mudon People Defence Force stated that the operation was carried out jointly with the Mawlamyine District Defense Team and the Allied 10/Inspection Unit, adding that its fighters successfully withdrew without casualties.
Residents noted that nearly every village in Mudon Township has junta informants, who are also reportedly involved in drug trading and illegal businesses with impunity.
On August 6, two other suspected junta informants, a husband and wife accused of running local gambling rings while secretly providing information to the Junta Commission, were also shot dead in Thin Yuu village, Thanbyuzayat Township.
