MNHC to Launch Batch 10 of Basic Laboratory Training Program

-

The Mon National Health Committee (MNHC), under the New Mon State Party, will launch Batch 10 of its Basic Laboratory Training Program, according to an official statement from the MNHC.

The program is scheduled to begin in October, and applications are now open for interested candidates.

Applicants must have completed at least Grade 10 under the old education system or Grade 11 under the new system. In addition, they must have basic proficiency in English and be able to read and write in both Mon and Burmese languages.

“The program is intended to last three months, but in practice, it often extends to four or five months. In the previous batch, we were more lenient regarding educational qualifications. But this time, we have slightly raised the requirement so that participants can better keep up with the lessons,” said an official from the Mon National Health Department.

The MNHC organizes this training program once every three years, typically accepting around 20 students per batch.

Even before the Mon National Health Committee had access to advanced laboratory facilities and equipment at its central office in Yechaungpyar and the nearby Panan Bane Hospital, the basic laboratory training had already been conducted every three years.

Until the 9th batch, the training was always held at Panan Bane Hospital. However, this year the venue may change, the MNHC official added.

“In the past, training was always conducted at Panan Bane, where both theoretical and practical lessons using lab equipment were provided. This year, we’re considering two possible locations, depending on the availability of electricity and ease of transportation for instructors. If Weizin isn’t suitable, we’ll return to Panan Bane. But if there’s a power supply issue, we’ll keep it at Panan Bane,” the official explained.

Interested applicants must apply in person for an interview at their nearest MNHC health department office by July 30.

A parent or guardian must accompany the applicant to the interview. Selected candidates will attend the three-month training and will be required to serve with the MNHC for three years upon completion.

After fulfilling their service commitment, graduates will also be eligible to enroll in the MNHC’s Basic Medical Training School, according to the statement.

Currently, the Mon National Health Committee employs more than 130 staff members, including healthcare workers and administrative personnel, across 20 hospitals and 18 health clinics in areas controlled by the New Mon State Party and other Mon regions.
