-

A gold shop owner was shot and killed during an armed robbery at the “Shwe Yadanar Oo” gold shop inside Shwe Hintha Market in Mudon Township, Mon State, on the morning of July 11.

At around 11:30 a.m., a man arrived on a motorcycle and entered the gold shop located in Ward 4 of the market. According to a local resident, the suspect attempted to rob the shop by threatening the female shop owner with a pistol.

During the incident, the 69-year-old shop owner, U Pan La, reportedly entered the store and was shot multiple times by the gunman, who then fled the scene.

“The robber came from the direction of the clothing shops, went upstairs, threatened them, assaulted the shop owner’s daughter, and then shot the owner twice,” a witness said.

U Pan Lar died at the scene from his injuries. His daughter was also injured during the attack, according to local sources.

Residents reported that the suspect abandoned his motorcycle inside the market before fleeing on foot. In response to the incident, other gold shops in Shwe Hintha Market have temporarily closed.
