Mon, Karen, Tanintharyi  Resistance Forces Discuss Joint Action

-

During the ongoing revolutionary period, ethnic armed resistance forces from the Mon, Karen, and Tanintharyi regions have discussed forming a united front and entering joint combat operations, according to sources.

Representatives from local ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) and the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) met recently in a liberated area. All parties agreed that unity and collaboration are needed in the future.

“In the southern region, no matter which resistance group it is—Mon, Karen, or Tanintharyi—they all need to align with local EAOs and operate together. Now is the time for unity, solidarity, and coordinated action,” said Saw Darko, Commander of PDF Strategy 33.

The meeting’s attendees included Nai Zeya, Chair of the Mon State Party (Anti-Junta), and Nai Banyar Lae, General Secretary, alongside representatives from the Ramanya Mon Army (RMA), Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Brigade 6, Battalion 27, Mon State Revolutionary Force (MSRF), the Dawei-based resistance coalition, and military leadership from the PDF.

The resistance leaders reached a consensus to carry out joint combat operations in the near future.

A representative from the Dawei resistance force noted that unified military action is the only way to achieve swift victories. He added that resistance forces will work to strengthen cooperation with relevant EAOs and escalate military operations as needed.

“In Tanintharyi, it’s well understood that we still lack cohesion. But in Dawei District, we’re already seeing coordinated efforts among battalions and units, and those are yielding progress. So we intend to expand cooperation with resistance groups and local EAOs in the region to intensify necessary military campaigns,” he said.

A previous statement released on April 21, 2025, also announced the formation of a military alliance among Mon, Karen, Dawei, and PDF forces.

That alliance aimed to serve as a foundation for mutual coordination, joint operations, and the provision of support in response to increasing military offensives by the junta in the Tanintharyi region.
