Man Suspected of Being Ye Blue Forces Member Detained by Military Junta in Ye Township

-

A man suspected of being a member of the Ye Blue resistance group was arrested by the military junta near Ahryutaung village in Ye Township, Mon State, around 5 p.m. on June 1, according to local sources.

The arrest came after a 45-minute clash on July 1 between junta troops from Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 343, based in Ahryutaung, and members of the Ye Blue group. Following the clash, junta forces ramped up security measures along the Ye–Thanbyuzayat road and began searching the Ahryutaung area and surrounding villages.

The arrested man, believed to be in his 30s and working as a hired laborer, was detained and taken to the LIB-343 base. Reports indicate he was beaten during interrogation on suspicion of being a Ye Blue member.

“After the fighting, they thought someone had been left behind by Ye Blue and arrested that man. They beat him and started questioning villagers — asking if they knew him, if he was from Ahryutaung, or if he was part of Ye Blue,” a local resident said.

Though unconfirmed by IMNA at the time of reporting, local sources claim the young laborer was executed by junta forces on July 2. He was reportedly not a native of Ye Township but an ethnic Bamar working on farms in and around Ahryutaung for daily wages.

Although no artillery attacks were reported on July 3, the military has maintained heavy security presence in Ahryutaung and nearby villages. Locals say armed soldiers in full uniform continue to patrol the area, causing fear among residents and limiting movement.

“They’re not firing today, but they’re patrolling in military vehicles, fully armed. People are afraid to go to the fields or travel,” said another Ye resident.

The arrest followed a July 1 attack by Ye Blue fighters on a junta outpost, which resulted in intense fighting. At least 10 junta troops were reportedly killed, and one Ye Blue fighter also died during the group’s withdrawal.

Later that day, another skirmish broke out when junta forces attempted to raid one of the Ye Blue group’s guard posts.

Ye Blue has carried out multiple attacks on junta camps and convoys across Ye Township, targeting military positions and launching ambushes on a near-regular basis.
