The Mon State Federal Council (MSFC) has presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Nai Thuwanna (also known as Nai Tun Phay) in recognition of his service as Chairperson of the Council for a four-year term from 2021 to 2025.
At approximately 86 years old, Nai Thu Wunna provided political leadership, expertise, and extensive experience to the Mon State Federal Council (MSFC) during his four-year tenure. He stood as a model politician.

Due to health concerns, Teacher Nai Thu Wunna will retire from his duties as a member of the Mon State Federal Council’s Ethnic Affairs Committee and Council responsibilities. The MSFC’s honorary certificate acknowledges and appreciates his vigorous political spirit and the guidance he provided in political processes.
Nai Thu Wunna (Nai Tun Phay) hails from Htone-aing village, Hpa-An Township, Karen State. Since his university life, he has actively participated in Mon’s national affairs. He was involved in the founding of the Mon National Democratic Front (MNDF) in 1988. After the MNDF party was dissolved, he served as a representative of the Mon Affairs group, MAU, a Thai/Myanmar-based political organisation.
During the 1990 election, he served as a representative of the MNDF in Kyainseikgyi Township, Kyain State. In the 2015 election, he ran as a candidate for the Mon National Party (MNP) in Hpa-An Township. After the Mon parties merged in 2019, he became a member of the central executive committee of the Mon Unity Party (MUP).
Following the military coup in 2021 and internal party disagreements, Nai Thu Wunna resigned from the Mon Unity Party (MUP). On May 3rd, he was appointed as the Minister of Labour in the National Unity Government (NUG).
