Two local women were injured after the military junta forces shelled a village in Kyaikto Township, Mon State, according to a statement released by the Karen National Union (KNU).
On the morning of June 14, around 10:00 a.m., troops from the junta’s Light Infantry Division 44 and the subordinate Infantry Battalion 3 reportedly fired eight 120mm artillery shells into Zee Kone village, Kyaikto Township.

Two of the shells landed and exploded between residential homes, injuring a 53-year-old woman named Daw Aye San, who was struck by shrapnel.
The blast also damaged two houses in the village.
Later that same day, around 5:00 p.m., the junta’s Infantry Battalion 3 launched two additional 120mm artillery shells into Alu Gyi village. One of the shells exploded inside the village, injuring a 30-year-old woman named Ma Wa Wa Oo.
The junta’s Division 44 and its subordinate units, stationed in Kyaikto, have repeatedly and deliberately fired heavy artillery into civilian-populated areas, and military columns continue to advance into local communities.
The KNU stated that junta troops entering the area have committed ongoing human rights violations against civilians.
