The spokesperson of the Palaung State Liberation Front/Ta’ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA), Lway Yay Oo, declared that the group will continue its fight until the military dictatorship is completely dismantled.
She made the statement during TNLA’s press conference today, June 5, during which the spokesperson explained the group’s political stance.
“Our revolutionary position is that PSLF/TNLA will remain steadfast until the fall of the military dictatorship. Our goal is to free the whole of Myanmar from military oppression and governance and to fully eradicate the military dictatorship. At the same time, as we are still in the revolutionary phase, our goals and expectations are advancing step by step as the situation allows,” said Lway Yay Oo.
Although the Three Brotherhood Alliance has declared a temporary ceasefire until the end of May, clashes continue due to the military council’s ongoing offensives.
Lway Yay Oo also said that the TNLA’s movement to dismantle the dictatorship is facing pressure from the Chinese government, and they are exploring ways to overcome that pressure.
“Recently, our TNLA’s China-led negotiation meetings have ended. We are scheduled to meet again in late August. A ceasefire has been declared between both sides. Militarily, operations will continue until the end of May, as we’ve already announced. Chinese pressure remains, but we will handle the situation strategically,” she stated.
Currently, the military council is launching attacks to recapture Naung Cho, a town seized by TNLA. It is also bombing Kyaukme, Hsipaw, and Mogok by air.
During Operation 1027, TNLA gained control of towns in northern Shan State and Mandalay Region, including Namhsan, Mantong, Namkham, Kutkai, Namtu, Mongngaw, Monglon, Kyaukme, Naung Cho, Mogok, Moemauk, and Hsipaw.
