Ongoing Tensions Between Armed Forces in Min Thar Village, Yephyu Township

-

According to resistance forces, military tensions remain high in Min Thar village, Kan Bauk sub-township, Yephyu township, and Tanintharyi region.

Since around 8 a.m. on April 20, intense fighting has erupted in Min Thar village between local allied resistance forces and the military junta troops. As of today, April 21, clashes and tensions are ongoing, said the Mon State Revolutionary Force (MSRF).

“The fighting hasn’t stopped yet. The situation is still tense, and more clashes could break out anytime. So, we don’t want to comment much for now. Yesterday’s battle caused casualties on both sides. Fortunately, we didn’t lose any of our members, but some were injured. We want to warn everyone that more fighting could happen tonight or tomorrow,” said MSRF spokesperson Nai Nagar.

Following the clashes in Min Thar village, junta troops from the Mawrawaddy Navy base in Kan Bauk and Light Infantry Battalion 282 based in Ka Lein Aung reportedly shelled nearby villages with heavy artillery. Locals also reported reconnaissance aircraft flying over the area.

“There was fighting yesterday. We heard gunfire from morning until afternoon. Soon after the clash began, artillery fire followed. Planes were flying overhead for surveillance. It’s quiet now, so people haven’t fled yet, but no one knows what might happen next,” said a resident from Min Thar village tract.

Although gunfire has subsided at present, junta forces and the Mawrawaddy Navy are reportedly reinforcing their presence in the area.

As a result, residents from villages within the Min Thar village tract—including Sin Ku, Minthar, Lel Gyi, Sin Swe, and Sein Bon—have begun to seek temporary shelter in safer locations, according to resistance groups.

The ongoing clashes in Min Thar village are being carried out jointly by the Mon State Revolutionary Force (MSRF), the Dawna Column, and local resistance forces based in Yephyu.
