A powerful earthquake with a magnitude 7.7 struck central Myanmar, with its epicenter in the Sagaing Region, at 12:25 PM Myanmar Standard Time on March 28, according to data released by the seismic monitoring center.

The tremor was strongly felt in both Myanmar and Thailand, causing widespread damage. Emergency response teams have been deployed to affected areas to carry out rescue and relief operations.
Following the earthquake, reports of damage emerged from multiple regions, including Sagaing, Mandalay, Yangon, Bago, and Mon State. Structural collapses were reported in high-rise buildings, highways, and bridges.
According to social media reports, the shaking lasted from a few seconds to up to three minutes, depending on the location.
