The National Unity Government (NUG) has announced a two-week suspension of all offensive military operations in regions affected by the recent earthquake, including Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago, Naypyidaw, and southern Shan State. The suspension will take effect starting March 30.
According to the statement released on March 29, the decision aims to facilitate emergency rescue and relief efforts for civilians trapped under collapsed homes, buildings, and workplaces. Only defensive military actions will continue during this period.
The NUG has also extended an invitation to international humanitarian organizations, including the United Nations, to assist in urgent rescue and medical aid efforts. Additionally, the NUG has pledged an initial allocation of $1 million to support earthquake relief operations.
