A convoy carrying officers and soldiers from Infantry Battalion 586 (IB-586) was ambushed on March 26 while traveling along Highway No. 8 between Ye Township and Tumyaung village, according to local sources.
The attack was carried out by Unit 1 of the Ye Blue Battalion, targeting a white Vigo vehicle transporting officers from IB-586 to a meeting at IB-587. The ambush resulted in the deaths of three junta personnel, including a battalion commander and two soldiers.
“We set up an ambush between Tumyaung and the airfield. The attack killed three of them—a battalion commander and two soldiers. Their bodies are still at IB-587; they haven’t been transferred back to IB-586 yet,” a Ye Blue leader said.
Following the attack, military junta forces arrived at the scene, while Ye Blue troops successfully withdrew. The bodies of the deceased junta personnel were transported to IB-587.
IB-586 is based along the Mawlamyine-Ye Highway (No. 8), while IB-587 is stationed in the central part of Ye Township.
Ye Blue has intensified its offensives against junta battalions and military camps in the region. The group has warned civilians to exercise caution when traveling, as clashes with junta forces have increased.
“Our troops are conducting continuous attacks. We urge civilians to be cautious when traveling and to take necessary precautions for their safety,” said the Ye Blue leader.
On March 11, Ye Blue also raided a junta outpost in Kundu village, forcing junta troops to flee. Additionally, the military junta has tightened security along the eastern section of the Ye-Dawei highway, increasing inspections at checkpoints in villages such as Ywathit, Ywakalay, Warrahaing, and Taung Sun. Restrictions on transporting food supplies have been imposed, leading to frequent clashes between junta forces and Ye Blue troops.
